High School Career
Ja Morant went to Crestwood High School, a small public school in Sumter, Soth Carloina. In high school, Ja was a zero star recrute. Ja Morant was the best player in his school and lead his team, but wasn't being recognized by scouts. Even with his great stats, high verticle, and fast moves, he wasn't getting D1 offers as soon as people belived he should have. This was especially because he broke records in their school and in his first three years with the team had about 1,700 points. But Ja Morant didn't have good grades and had a 2.5 GPA. He wanted to be scouted and with the grades h had he knew that no D1 university would take him. By his senior year, he was able to raise his grades and leave Crestwood High School with a 3.7 GPA. Ja put in the work to acheive his dream, but still wasn't getting offers.
That was until a scout from Murray State went to watch a tournament. This scout did not come to see Ja play, but went to watch the tournament to scout other players. That's when the MSU scout when to take a break,but saw Ja playing in the other gym. The scout loved Ja's explosive moves and how he could be everywhere all at once. Ja Morant shinned and was later signed to Murray State University
College Career
Ja Morant had an amazing college carrer. Ja's non-stop energy made him stand out amongst the other players and he was one of the best players in the NCAA league. Ja took the offer to Murray State and played there for 2 years. He broke records, being the first player in the NCAA to average over 20 points and over 10 assists per game in his sophmore year
Ja was nationally ranked eighth in college in scoring and almost every game he played he had a double-double(when a player any two of 10+ steals,rebounds, assists, points, ect.) Ja was an extreamly strong player. He was one of the best players in the league and he grew as a player tremendously. Many were drawn to how Ja played and people learned his name quickly. He was known for the crazy things he did in game and how he had no fear. Ja stood out compared to th other players. Ja was a point guard and standing at 6'2, was much shortr than the other players he played against. In Ja's sophmore year at Murray State he was considered All-American. Compared t many other NCAA players, Ja had a short run in his college basketball career, but was one of the best and was the best player to come out of Murray State.
NBA Career
After Ja ended his college career, he was drafted in the NBA. Ja was draftd to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019. Ja Morant was second overall in the 2019 draft and ended his first season in the NBA winning NBA Rookie of the Year. Ja quickly became the face of the Grizzlies. He carried his explosive energy from the NCAA to the NBA and even in his rookie year had great stas. Ja was a strong, fast, and smart player. Morant has so far played for 4 years and the 2022-2023 season will be his fifth season playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and in the NBA. Ja Morant grew as a player each year and showed off his true potential and how hard he has been working to become the player he is today. According to his stats his best season with the most growth was Year 3 (2021-2022). His points per game grew by 10+ point average each game. Not only did his point grow, but also his rebounds. Even though Ja was 7-12 inches shorter than some of the players he was plying against, he was still getting boards and even driving into the paint. He is most well known for his high verticl and how he challenges people 3 times his size.
